It seems an age since I wrote last week’s column and things continue to change apace. Most of us are in self-isolation now and this has to be the right way to approach the virus. Our skills at telephone triaging and advice can be usefully honed at this time. Don’t get too frustrated. Once PPA (just today confirmed as a requirement for primary eye care practice) is readily available and more is known about resistance and management, we will all have a major role in reducing the secondary care burden. For now, keep in touch, try out online software, communicate with elderly and at-risk patients and relatives/friends alike. If you are in a position to offer required clinical services or are supporting volunteer services, hats off to you and I promise to one day buy you all a pint.
