Chris Bennett: A whiff of freedom

Entries are rolling in for the Optician Awards and with the deadline just a fortnight away

Entries are rolling in for the Optician Awards and with the deadline just a fortnight away now is the time to take action.

Timescales for the Optician Awards have been shifted courtesy of Covid, but we don’t want any of our readers to miss the opportunity to bask in the reward and recognition they deserve. The closing date for the entries this year is August 30. This is to enable the judging process to take place ahead of the presentation ceremony on December 2 in the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.

Optician took the bold move to opt for a return to the glittering black tie dinner and presentation event that sees 600 entrants, sponsors and guests celebrate, network and party the night away. With the whiff of normality already in the air, Optician is hoping that this year’s presentation will be an extra-special return to celebrating the very best optics has to offer in the style our readers deserve.

What really makes the Optician Awards special is the effort and commitment put in by our entrants who, year after year, wow the judges. So put that deadline in your diary and start to talk to your team about which trophy deserves to have your name on it.

This year we have some new Awards, each is judged by a panel of optical experts brought together by a member of the Optician team. Our Awards are not judged on votes from friends but by the careful consideration of fellow eye care professionals. Our winners are practices that graft, day in, day out, to do the best by their patients. Practices just like yours.

Optician, supported by its sponsors, hosts the Awards in an effort to give something back to the optical profession to recognise that work. Never has that been more important than this year.
