Taking CET seriously has not come easy to all optical professionals but those failing to reach their requirement or who are tardy in their participation will not be smiling come the New Year.
Previous years have seen the General Optical Council take a very touchy feely approach to compliance with a three month period of grace for those failing to amass their tally. No more.
The GOC has sent a signal out to the 5,500 registrants who have yet to reach their target. Failure to earn the required number means they will have to pay the restoration fee of £380 and earn 12 points. Just for good measure they’ll have to make up their previous year’s shortfall and pay the retention fee of £320 in April as well.
