Referendums, or referenda if you prefer, are a bit like buses; you wait ages for one then two come along at the same time. Not so long ago when politicians looked for guidance the topic was Scottish independence. At that time Optician offered itself as a platform for two optical professionals to go head to head on the question. Each spelled out their thoughts on why a yes, or a no, in the Scottish independence vote, would be best for optics.
