Technology has a habit of creeping up on us, so often it’s not the wunderkind ideas and companies that make it while technological breakthroughs have a habit of taking unexpected directions.
Once the first flush of excitement around a new technology has waned we finally see the resulting products.
Now that world changing technology is in the shops and we can all buy it, right? All too often we don’t. Technology, tastes and trends have moved on. Sometimes products are ahead of their time but gather pace. Electric and hybrid cars must be the ultimate example of a slow burn technology.
But technology, moderated by the market, filters through. It’s not always the best, but it’s the technology that meets the market needs and fits the consumer zeitgeist.
