Given the news this week that Optician is about to go head to head with Bob Geldof in an optical media battle I'm sure readers will allow me the indulgence of talking shop.
Optician has never had an easy relationship with Optometry Today nor, at times, with the Association of Optometrists. On paper there is no reason why being in a competitive business situation with a magazine edited by the wife of the chief executive of the lead professional body should be a problem. But Optician did find itself in an uneasy position with the two from time to time and has the legal letters to prove it.
