New York is a city of surprises. How do so many people fit into such a small area? How do the cycle couriers survive for more than a week and when, if ever, do New Yorkers go to sleep?

Last week it was the turn of optics to use the Big Apple’s pzazz to make an announcement about a new contact lens technology and it lived up to the New York standard. But it wasn’t a silicone hydrogel or intraocular lens in the spotlight, it was a lens carrier.

The development of AquaSoft Singles brings to the market a contact lens carrier just 1mm thick, opening up a whole host of possibilities to reduce storage space and increase portability. The lenses come in pairs, left and right with a big L on one and big R on the other.
