This week the American Optometric Association (AOA) commented on a robust bill to tighten up internet supply of contact lenses in the US.
It follows a proposed voluntary code by the General Optical Council on these shores, which it would be fair to describe as a polite, British version of the Contact Lens Consumer Health Protection Act – but might well produce results in the long term.
Either way, efforts to safeguard internet contact lens sales either side of the pond are to be applauded in the interests of both patients and high street businesses.
