What planet does Moneo live on? His criticism of the speech by Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State of health, ‘NHS Five Year Forward View’ is as misplaced as it misinforms.

First of all, doctors, nurses and hospitals do not benefit commercially for the services they provide. Compare that to the business interests of some of the optical traders, (I hate to use the word ‘profession’) and it is all there for everyone to see in 20/20 vision. There is not a single media that has not been saturated by some with tempting offers to buy, buy and buy visual aids at competitive prices. Working seven days a week, flogging frames, does not qualify one to be ‘on the radar of healthcare’. Testing eyes is what the degree in optometry is all about. It now has a licence to sell, sell and sell anything under the name of visual care. The larger the enterprise, the louder the voice to reach even the hard of hearing.
