Lens extend wearing time

Simon Jones

eraSoft IC, the latest soft contact lens from UltraVision, is designed to fit all irregular corneas, including post laser refractive surgery and pellucid marginal degeneration.

According to the manufacturer, the lenses can be worn for up to 18 hours a day with stable vision and little discomfort. Designed and fitted using topographical images, KeraSoft IC also has a number of configurable lens parameters such as sector management control and customisable periphery design.

Keith Lomas, UltraVision’s chief executive, commented: ‘The development of the KeraSoft range is a breakthrough in the management of all irregular corneas. Rigid gas-permeable wearers often experience pain and short wearing times, leading them to make the choice between wearing their lenses for working or wearing them during social time. KeraSoft IC can be life-changing for patients with corneal irregularities.’

Incorporating wavefront optics, the lens is available in a choice of two materials, a three-month 74 per cent water silicone hydrogel material and a 12-month conventional high water 77 per cent material.
