Specsavers needs to charge a realistic figure for eye examinations

I was pleased to hear of Doug Perkins belief that the optical profession, as a whole, should pull together to deliver enhanced optical services, which was the cornerstone of his speech at Optrafair.

Further commitment from Specsavers is evident from the June 3 issue of Optician, with the announcement of three new Optometrists to spearhead that company’s ‘enhanced services revolution’.

How dismayed I was then to be driving past my nearest Specsavers outlet, to see the content of their window display. While I have no doubt that there will be terms and conditions attached to such an offer, the clear message is once again that optometric services are worth nothing.
