In my letter to Optician (July 18), dealing with the matter of the ‘supervised’ sale and supply of contact lenses, I asked the GOC if it would respond to the comments made by me through the pages of Optician, since I had failed to obtain any response by communicating direct with the GOC itself.
Peter Coe, chief executive and registrar at the GOC, responded in a letter (Optician August 1), dealing with ‘Procedures for plano contact lens fitting’. Coe says that my letter ‘on this subject’ confuses a number of issues. However, my letter was nothing to do with ‘this subject’, but dealt with the widespread breaches of the law on the ‘supervised’ sale and supply of CLs in the UK. Perhaps it was Coe who was doing the confusing.
