Yes, how funny.
This is the idea dreamt up following the attack at Rotterdam zoo by Bokito. The idea is that you are not looking into the animal's eyes. Apparently a favourite pastime of the gorilla's main victim in the attack. It's all a bit of fun and I'm sure the novely specs will sell like hot cakes.
Sadly it is piled upon a pretty sad story.
More central to Bokito's escape and attack it seems was his taunting earlier in the day. Apparently a day out at the zoo in Holland includes throwing stones or staring out the incarcerated living exhibits. His home life was pretty messed up too. If he was under social care in the UK he'd probably qualify for a season ticket to Alton Towers.
This magnificient gorilla didn't just have to suffer the indignity of being banged up for the delight of the paying public but also endure humiliation and violation. He obviously decided he'd had enough.
In the circumstances I think a smashed up cafe and a few bitten visitors can be considered getting off lightly.
