Moneo writes: More imagination for the future of eyecare please

The interview with the new president of the College of Optometrists made interesting reading. I wish David Parkins success in his work over the next two years. However, despite the many plaudits at the outset, I sadly found myself reading so much of the same that has been trotted out for the last 20, if not more, years. A commissioner he may be but the problem with every commissioner I have met is their almost total inability to look at healthcare as an entire entity. There is just so little imagination when it comes to viewing the role of modern clinicians in a patient-centred healthcare system.
