The annual round of political party conferences is now behind us. I congratulate optometry’s leaders who seem to have had a good presence at these conferences and done a good job of putting the case for primary care optometry and the role it can play.
As the prospect of a general election looms large it may seem inevitable that we are to see a change in the colour of government, but whatever the outcome we must all be prepared to play a role in the campaign that will unfold to get our message across to both prospective MPs and the general public. And this is where I turn to my main theme this month.
