Moneo writes: The optical sector can take the initiative

As 2015 begins I am sent a tweet of the latest issue of Commissioning Review. It says “Eye health services in the community can be more efficient but CCGs need guidance from the optical sector to succeed.” The article is written by Katrina Venerus of LOCSU. I must congratulate her on what she says. For years now we have been told by various people that we must not upset ophthalmology in our quest to re-design community services. So often we have had to sit around tables and listen to reasons as to why services must be led by ophthalmology and so very often the outcome has been stalemate with services not being developed when they easily could have been.
