Mykita shows its Mylon

There was a distinct feel of technology around Silmo this year.

Along with 3D, self power-changing lenses and carbon fibre there was a potentially even greater technological shift on show.

And it wasn't so much the styling as the manufacturing technology. These Berhard Willhelm inspired bad boys were created using product prototyping. This is a kind of 3D printing where solid objects are made up by layering material successively to create a shape from a computer design. This does away with the need for tooling and could one day lead to customers designing their own specs. Perish the thought.
