I see that Kate Winslet, never one to milk a situation, is being accused of picking up an elderly lady unnecessarily in her daring rescue of Richard Branson's mother on the luxury private island Necker http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/8777815/Eve-Branson-the-day-Kate-Winslet-saved-my-life.html. The 'forthright' Eve Branson is quoted in today's Telegraph as saying 'I would have got down those stairs on my own... but it was dark and slippery and I didn't have my contact lenses in.' So, one can only assume that, had she been wearing overnight silicone hydrogels, she would have escaped the clutches of the award-winning actress. Given Ms Winslet's recent speech, and various other gushing acceptances, surely the fire could have been put out by her over-active lachrimal glands?
