Optical Express offer of free laser eye surgery

Optical Express's offer of free laser eye surgery to all of those professionals, training and qualified, working in optics poses some interesting questions.

The first of course is how many optoms and DOs will take up the offer. As I wrote in my leader column this week it would be a great endorsement of Lasik to see huge swathes of optical professionals having gone under the (laser) knife.

Other questions are less clear. What would OE expect from those undergoing a procedure and what happens if lots of optical professionals don't want to take up this very kind offer?

My favourite question is about what the rest of the industry will do. I have a sneaking feeling that those in optics are about to be made some very kind product trial offers.
