Our professional bodies need to do more

Moneo is right. Why do we pay so many ‘representatives’ so much money to achieve so little? Even the mighty Confederation hasn’t a clue how to solve the vital cross-subsidy issue.

Just how many organisations employing how many ‘representatives’ swanning around in expensive, London offices does optics need exactly? They are excellent at loading ever increasing burdens of responsibility on us but rubbish at negotiating for us. They won’t even poll the membership on opinions on actions to be taken for fear of having to do something as a result.
