What with all this talk of credit crunch I found myself on an internet link to surviving on the oncoming recession.Under the heading of Teach yourself to turn thrifty No 17 included this gem from the Sun newspaper.
17. When getting new spectacles, have your eyes tested by a High Street optician and then buy the actual glasses frames online from only £15, using your prescription.
Put into context with all the other really important stuff Sun readers' specs look positively cheap. Number ten tells us:
Make a New Year resolution to give up smoking. If you smoke around 20 cigarettes a day this will save you £2,000 a year.
While number 11 advises:
Drink tap water instead of buying expensive bottled mineral water. If you don’t like the taste, add a couple of mint leaves or squeeze in some lemon juice. This could save up to £700 a year.
