This week's Optician includes a news story about colour blindness - a subject all too often ignored in most schools and homes.
Indeed, research by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers shows a real conflict between the number of pupils known to be colour blind and actual awareness within the school.
Even when it is diagnosed, little is done to help colour blind people to participate on an even keel.
The question is whether optical practices could do more to diagnose colour blindness within the one in 12 boys and one in 200 girls, who might struggle to pass to the right team mate or pick out a new shirt.
