Question of retinal lesions

Reply to Moneo's column, To prevent or not prevent

I noticed the question, To prevent of not prevent, about why retinal lesions do not routinely have laser.

My understanding is it’s all about 'traction' with laser you actually create a stronger site of vitreous attraction (if the patient has not had a PVD) and this therefore does not reduce the risk as when the PVD does occur you can get a break at the site of the laser.

I have enclosed a couple of images, I just happened to have these in in the last couple of days
