Rolf makes mark in stone

Just when you thought you had seen it all, Rolf Spectacles has announced it will use the Silmo show to launch a set of frames finished in stone.

Through its award-winning wooden frames, the Austrian manufacturer has carved itself a reputation as an innovator when using the material, and the new stone-finished Dino 41 frames (pictured above) will undoubtedly see the creator's stature grow further. The wooden frames have been produced by hand, and then covered in stone - with exposed wooden edging to contrast against the stone textures.

The manufacturer also said it would launch the new Consul 06 wooden frame at the show. More traditional than some of its other wooden frame shapes, the Consul 06 (below) is finished in black with contrasting natural wood edges.
