Manchester United's goalie, David de Gea, got us all excited this week when it was revealed he needed eye surgery. What could it be? Something to raise the profile of optics? As it turned out young David is just a bit shortsighted but his prescription hasn't stabilised yet. The docs in Spain (he was a goalie in Madrid) advised him to wait before having the op. He was bought by Man U for about £18m in the summer so you might have thought they would have checked his eyesight out before they wrote the cheque out, I understand some optical practices even offer free eye checks these days.
