Ted Baker adds to growing line

Simon Jones

Young Ted is Ted Baker’s new range of optical frames aimed at the youth market, launched by Mondottica for the 12 to 16-year-old age group.

Comprising six styles for boys and girls and catering for eye size ranges 44/16 to 47/17, the collection will ‘reflect the inspirations of the adult’s collection, with subtle re-designing to suit the features of the younger wearer,’ according to Mondottica.

The range offers a choice of full-rimmed metal frames – including a stainless steel model – an acetate frame and a supra model. Several of the designs feature spring-loaded hinges for durability and comfort. Each model also comes with its own lens cloth and hard case.

Point of sale material features a theme described as ‘so typically Ted’ which includes showcards of a schoolboy and schoolgirl wearing poorly fitted kids specs, with a strap-line of ‘Because growing up is hard enough’ offering advice to parents.

Young Ted will be available to practitioners from March 1.

‘All in all, the new Young Ted collection offers a sophisticated designer range of eyewear for the younger wearer, helping the independent optician to capture an important new market as their child clients mature,’ added Mondottica.
