Further to my Robert Pattinson post, there is evidence that users of 'theatrical' contact lenses are 12 times more at risk of contact lens-related eye infection than those who wear conventional contact lenses, so perhaps the Twilight star is right to be worried: http://www.contactlensheadlines.com/6578/costume-contacts-eye-infection/ Researchers in France found that costume contact lens wearers tended to be younger at 21 years compared to 27 years for conventional CL wearers and less likely to receive proper care instructions. The study at 12 university hospitals from July 2007 to July 2009, published in Acta Ophthalmologica, also found that wearers of theatrical contact lenses tended to have more severe lens-related infections.
