Countdown to NOC 2018 has begun with less than two months to go

Countdown to NOC 2018 has begun with less than two months to go.

An LOC Chairs’ meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 14, followed by a farewell gala dinner for outgoing chairman, Alan Tinger, after 10 years leading the organisation.

Wednesday evening will also include a special event for first-time delegates. Newcomers can meet the Locsu team to work out ways to get the best out of the workshop programme and networking opportunities.

NOC delegates can attend up to two of the five workshops which include LOC governance and the new GDPR requirements, effective communications, LOC and PEC role skills, pathway redesign and workforce mobilisation.

Each LOC receives at least one free delegate place and LOCs are being urged to send more than one delegate.

Announcing the programme for the 2018 NOC Richard Whittington said: ‘Change is the main theme of this year’s NOC. We will be welcoming our new non-executive chairman, Mike Fegan, to the organisation at a pivotal moment for optics.

‘Following a couple of years of serious thinking about health reform, we are beginning to get an outline understanding of how accountable care organisations will operate and a sense of how redesigned pathways will be delivered.

‘This could have a significant impact on the formation of eye health services.’

The NOC will also include an update on the work to rationalise, consolidate and professionalise the Primary Eyecare Companies and include a report from the new national delivery arm, Primary Eyecare Services, as it looks to capitalise on the new commissioning landscape.

Book now for the event at Chesford Grange, Kenilworth, from November 14-15.
