View from Locsu: LOC company model is working

Locsu
This year’s NOC has a strong focus on practical training

As Locsu prepares to publish its annual report showing both revenue and activity up over 100% across the first year of Breakthrough Strategy, it is clear the LOC company model is playing a significant role in the progress of the sector.

Extended services through a Primary Eyecare Company (PEC) have increased from just over 100 (2014-15) to 133 (2015-16) to nearly 350 this year. Delivery via a PEC means one contract, optical practices of all sizes can participate and, for CCGs, it manages KPIs such as performance and cost.

It is crucial that those performing roles within the PEC are able to operate confidently. That is why this year’s NOC (Nov 9) has a strong focus on practical training; for PEC directors, treasurers, CGPLs as well as LOC officers on the contracting team. There are five workshops, repeated, so delegates can attend at least two. The conference offers something for everyone, whether you hold an LOC post or have just joined the committee. Locsu has applied for CET for workshop attendance.
