Succession planning and leadership is an ongoing activity for the sector

With LOC AGMs on the horizon and a facilitated online LOC induction course this month, the issue of succession planning and leadership is an ongoing activity for the sector. How do we ensure there is a next generation of optical professionals, who can drive forward the work and agenda of the sector?

There is often a career path for optical leadership which involves attendance at the NOC, involvement with the LOC as an officer, participating on the leadership module, duties on a Primary Eyecare Company, as a CGPL for instance, and many of our members have come through this route. The sector is fortunate to have a strong cohort of people making the case, both optometrists and dispensing opticians.
