Viewpoint: Diary of a spectacle designer

I’m on holiday. I can’t think of anything better to start with. A chance to reflect on the past six months and plan for the future, I thought. We are in Germany in a forest by a lake. A perfect place for peace and tranquillity so I can undergo some deep thinking and strategic planning for the future.

Except this is the first time I’ve done any work and we are nearly two weeks into a three-week holiday that might turn into five weeks if we have to self-isolate when we get back.

I’d be quite happy to go into isolation on our return. I didn’t isolate at the start of lockdown given that, like most bosses, I was running around doing all the things a team of people used to do and I feel like I’ve missed out.
