I'm not sure what the GB Women's Volleyball team have been up to, other than practising lots and lots of volleyball, but some members of the team are appearing in Birmingham next weekend for the 36th British Contact Lens Association Clinical Conference and Exhibition. In a first for the BCLA there is a morning session (Saturday 26) on Contact Lenses and Sport. As well as being able to listen to well-known sports vision practitioners, who have been working with elite athletes in the run up to the Games, there's a chance to see a live volleyball demonstration and hear the athletes' thoughts on making it to the Games (Vision in Elite Sport 10.00-10.50). Sports vision specialists will also be on hand to discuss the contact lens assessment and vision correction of athletes. It's not all volleyball, though, as contact lenses in water sports and winter sports are also covered. With a massive summer of sport to look forward to, and major opportunities in practice in sports vision, attending the sports session could be just the thing to kick start your involvement.
