Certain areas of the UK are crying out for extra optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians to meet the needs of more remote populations.

The benefits of upping sticks include getting a higher salary and living near the sea, shows latest research.

According to the findings from a survey by Hunter Human Capital, experienced optometrists stand to earn £8,300 more working in the South West in comparison to lowest earning regions in the central belt of Scotland.

The South West region is closely trailed by East Anglia and the South East of England. They include remote yet picturesque spots of the country boasting enviable coastlines, often with growing retired ageing populations and increasing eye care needs, but often ignored by new entrants to the profession favouring urban hotspots.
