CET: The story so far...

Bill Harvey offers a reminder of the CET currently on offer and some highlights to come in the near future

As we end the first quarter of the first year in the current CET cycle, and after a flurry of CET in last week’s issue, I though it might be useful to use the hiatus this week to flag up some highlights in our CET programme

CET online

At the moment we have seven CET exercises available, including one interactive exercise, and you will find something suitable for each of the four registration categories (optometrist, contact lens optician, dispensing optician and therapeutic optometrist).

Interactive

This month’s interactive exercise is about how to deal with a patient with odd-sized pupils. These exercises have proved popular, and the range of views and opinions generated make for useful debate and consideration. We will aim to continue interactive CET on a monthly basis, the majority of exercises accredited for dispensing opticians and optometrists (though CLOs and IP included where appropriate). Over the whole cycle, the plan is to cover all competencies and run them to complement the distance learning programme. So, expect to see further legal and professional challenges, problems in binocular vision management and case scenarios involving anterior eye health and contact lens practice in the coming months.
