Dispensing Optician of the Year

Sheryl Doe, dispensing optician and joint managing director at Allegro Optical, is no stranger to winning awards, having won Entrepreneur of the Year at the National Best New Business Awards in 2018. Fellow joint managing director Stephen Tighe nominated Doe in the sponsored by Asda Opticians Dispensing Optician of the Year category at the Optician Awards 2019.

The quality and quantity of Doe’s achievements across Allegro Optical’s practices in Meltham, Yorkshire, and the recently established Greenfield site in Greater Manchester impressed the judges and she duly took home the trophy.

In the winning entry Tighe explains that, over the years, Doe has developed a strong niche to support both UK and overseas musical performers with their specific eye care needs and working with the Royal Northern College of Music to further develop performers’ eye care. This has led to Allegro Optical becoming the first optical practice in the UK to gain British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) registration, and becoming widely known as ‘the musician’s optician’.
