Event report: Coopervision Force

Coopervision’s Future Ocular Research Creativity Event (Force) competition has become an annual opportunity for universities and students to show off their nascent research skills. Chris Bennett travelled to Southampton to find out more

Dry eye dominated the day at the UK and Ireland final of Force, Coopervision’s annual student competition to find the best undergraduate research project carried out in the field of contact lenses and the anterior eye.

Battling it out in the final were two Irish entrants presenting research carried out as final year projects. The two attended the finals at Coopervision’s UK headquarters near Southampton where the candidates were given to opportunity to see Coopervision’s contact lens manufacturing and distribution operations and network with the other competing students and supervisors. The judging panel was made up of the candidate’s supervisors along with Shail Patel, European professional services manager EMEA, with the meeting chaired by local Force lead Mark Chatham, professional services consultant – MiSight 1 day.
