Event report: Tracking importance of OCT

The Topcon national OCT conference took place last month and emphasised how this technology is fast becoming an integral part of eye care in the UK

Yet again the Topcon supported National OCT Conference ran to a packed audience. The annual event, which this year was held in west London, has established itself on the education calendar, having cannily predicted some years back that OCT usage in eye care would become an important part of everyday optometric practice.

As always, delegates were offered a wide range of lectures and skills workshops, with highlights including subjects as diverse as dry eye management, scleral lens fitting using OCT and developments in the use of OCT angiography (OCT-A).

Sessions were categorised as either ‘basic’, ‘intermediate’ or ‘advanced’ with the former label used on lectures such as one introducing the use of OCT in glaucoma detection and monitoring, while talks on the latest research findings with OCT-A were designated as the latter.
