Family Optician of the Year

Zoe Wickens speaks to Coleman Opticians Hearing and Vision Centre about winning the Family Optician of the Year Award at the Optician Awards 2019

Coleman Opticians Hearing and Vision Centre in Norwich, Norfolk, has been owned by the Coleman family since 1930 when it was a chemist’s, before changing to an opticians practice in 1945. In 2012, it was taken over by Helen Hillis who had worked there for 11 years and Kate Fenn for eight years.

The family-focused team ‘embeds the core values of its history through the next generation of its owners’, which has seen many families remain patients for several generations. The practice regards family eye health as being of the utmost importance and to encourage families and children to interact with staff, family reading activities and charity involvement events are frequently held. The team say that they are ‘always looking for exciting ways to communicate with outreach activities within local schools and groups’.
