Andrew McClean finds out how emergency funding has enabled vital sight loss charity services to continue during lockdown

Emergency funding has helped local sight loss charities stay afloat and establish new services during the pandemic when access has been limited and fundraising has slowed.

A report published by the Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) evaluated its grant programme and found its impact to be wide ranging.

In April 2019, TPT suspended its regular grant funding programme and launched an emergency fund for sight loss charities that required financial support because their usual funding streams had dried up.

A total of £495,000 was awarded to 55 organisations, which totalled a grant of up to £10,000 each, and feedback on its impact was provided to TPT after six months.
