In focus: Surviving the crisis

The independent opticians’ business association, SightCare, hosted a webinar to discuss the future of optometry in relation to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Yiannis Kotoulas reports

Working from home tips, customer service and estate planning were on the agenda of Sight-Care’s webinar held on April 1.

Four speakers made up the panel. Practice owner of Campbell & McDearmid in Redcar, Faye McDearmid, represented the optical contingent and clarified how the other panellists’ advice could be applied for practice owners. McDearmid was joined by David Batchelor, a UK taxation and estate planning expert; Chris Lower, customer services director at Insight 6; and Steve Head, a performance coach.

With many now working from home, the webinar’s host David Samuel, from SightCare Premium, began with a question on how to maximise efficiency and productivity while working from home. The panel responded by suggesting a number of tips for breaking up the day and maintaining focus.
