Carole Maldonado-Codina talks about her career, CL materials and being named one of IACLE’s Contact Lens Educators of the Year

Mike Hale: How did you initially come to pursue a career in optometry?

Carole Maldonado-Codina: Throughout my teenage years I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to do and for a long time I didn’t know. I had spent time at my optometrist’s practice being fitted with contact lenses after becoming myopic. She was incredibly enthusiastic about her job and I liked the atmosphere in the practice. During this period, I also spent my holidays temping and I quickly realised that the office life was not for me. I kept returning to the idea of optometry and decided to go for it.
