‘I love optics, I’m optics through and through,’ says Stuart Burdett, managing director of the Outside Clinic and a read of his CV certainly bears that out.
Optometrist Burdett became managing director of the UK’s best known domiciliary provider in January of this year but his name may be an unfamiliar one. ‘My CV is pretty full, but a lot of it is low key,’ he says deferentially, but his rise to fame has been far from smooth.
‘I started off as a student DO back in ’86. When I was in the sixth form I didn’t concentrate on my exams as much as I should have done, I had always thought about doing optometry or pharmacy, but during the run up to my A-levels, I spent more time DJing, rowing and playing sports,’ he says.
