Carmarthen is one of the best places to live in Wales, according to The Sunday Times Best Places to Live in Britain guide (2017).

The county town of Carmarthen-shire is situated on the banks of the River Tywi, some six miles north of the estuary at Carmarthen Bay. Speculated to be the oldest town in South Wales – the Roman fort is believed to date back to AD75 – Carmarthen has a number of historical sites including Roman remains, numerous listed buildings and a heritage steam railway. Wide-stretching countryside, the coast and other areas of natural beauty are within easy reach.
