CLs: Opportunities for specialists

Mike Hale talks to Clamp Optometrists about approaches to specialist CLs

Designed for patients with corneal conditions or other eye issues that make conventional contact lenses unsuitable, fitting specialist contact lenses is one of the more complex tasks of practice life. While perhaps a step outside the ordinary, specialist contact lenses offer substantial benefits to the patients that require them and practice building opportunities to those that fit them.

‘As an independent practice, we tend to get the more complicated fits or people,’ says David Arnott, contact lens optician and director at Clamp Optometrists in Cambridge. ‘It’s a really good practice builder, because you get a really loyal patient if you take on a complicated fit and you do it well. Patients just love you for it because they may have been elsewhere and struggled to get fitted. It’s great for word-of-mouth recommendations.’
