Optician Awards 2017: Finely tuned customer care

Shortlisted in two categories, Hammond and Dummer took home the Contact Lens Patient Engagement Optician Awards, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. Joe Ayling visits the Milton Keynes practice

Hammond and Dummer is a unique optical practice in a unique location.

Its grand piano, gold spectacle and optical artefacts all help create a quirky but classy atmosphere in the main dispensing area.

Meanwhile, latest technology including OCT and Oculus Keratograph Topography help the practice marry high fashion with clinical excellence.

Husband and wife team Dr Bob and Claire Ranger, who acquired the practice in 2004, have divided the tasks successfully, with Claire taking the lead on patient care.

Their practice is situated on Milton Keynes’ main Midsummer Boulevard stretch, near the town’s largest corporate employers such as Santander and within walking distance of the main shopping zone and railway station.
