AM Eyewear takes inspiration from Mayan culture

Inca and Mayan culture referenced in AM Eyewear's latest collections

Mayan Gold is the inspiration for, and the name of, AM Eyewear’s latest sun and optical collections.

The Australian brand that seeks to bring design, opulent materials and handmade quality to eyewear has looked to Mayan and Inca headpieces to create sun and optical ranges. The result incorporates 9,18 and 22 ct gold, as well as combinations of silver, rose gold, and copper elements.

Six new shapes sit at the heart of Mayan Gold, hand-crafted from lightweight titanium and featuring an array of features. Product build incorporates mirrored nylon Zeiss lenses and adjustable titanium nose pads for optimum comfort.

The collection, said AM Eyewear, highlights intricate and unexpected details of green, brown and turquoise sitting alongside light pink and blue gradients, mother of pearl, gold and titanium, tipping a glass to the headpieces and patterns of the rainforest civilisations. Fine metal sits alongside heavy acetate throughout the range along with double brow bars and AM Eyewear’ signature detailing.

Shapes range from the feminine Debe’s cateye through the stocky, blocky acetate of Raymond to the flowing 70’s vibe of Hickey’s oversized irregular shapes and colourful graduated tints.
