Fair trade initiative highlights internal ‘wolf’

Independent practitioners have been warned of a business ‘threat within their own ranks’ by a newly created anonymous action group.

Axiom Advance said it was a fair trade initiative working on behalf of practitioners to increase awareness of ‘an enterprise that pretends to be their partner – while trying to steal their customers. It is growing strongly via its retail and online businesses. Thus ultimately becoming a direct competitor to their business.’

Although the group did not directly name the threat, it listed a number of online portals that were owned by Essilor, including Vision Direct, EyeBuyDirect and the Myoptique group

Essilor declined to comment on the matter when contacted by Optician.
