Optician editor, Chris Bennett, completes the Brighton Marina Triathlon raising £1,850 for Blind Veterans UK

Optician has raised £1,850 for Blind Veterans UK following the efforts of editor, Chris Bennett, in the Brighton Marina Triathlon at the weekend.

Bennett set his alarm early to be in the sea at Brighton by 7am on Sunday morning as local temperatures dropped as low as 2 degrees centigrade. ‘It was a chilly morning,’ said Bennett. ‘But once the sun got up it turned out be a glorious day. Blind Veterans UK is a worthy charity and I want to thank everyone who donated money and helped with kit.’

Coopervision came in with a race day donation of £200 to push the total raised closer to the £2,000 mark and Marchon donated a Nike Hyperforce sunglass which proved invaluable against the late summer sun on the run and the bike. Aqua Sphere loaned Bennett a Racer wetsuit and he wore Greeper Laces on the run.
