Company points out high number of referrals following digital retinal photography and benefits in early intervention

Research undertaken by Boots Opticians has revealed that more than three-quarters of the company’s optometrists have referred a patient on to their GP following an eye health check and digital retinal photograph.

The online research conducted among Boots Opticians staff also revealed that 86 per cent had found their early intervention and diagnosis had helped prevent a more serious health condition or outcome.

Boots introduced digital retinal photography as a standard element of its eye test for customers of all ages in August 2013, and is championing digital retinal photography for all in their eye health check as part of National Eye Health Week (September 22-28).
