​Alan Tinger steps down as chairman of LOCSU after a decade at the helm

Alan Tinger stepped down as chairman of LOCSU after a decade at the helm during the organisation’s annual event in the Midlands last week.

During a passionate address to 230 delegates at the National Optical Conference (NOC), which took place at Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwickshire last week, Tinger said he had been honoured to represent LOCSU for the past ten years but that it was time for someone else to take on the role.

Reflecting upon his tenure, Tinger spoke of the ‘unrivalled networking opportunity’ LOCSU provided and of the changing relationship between optics and the health service. ‘At first, the NHS wanted to stop the development of LOCSU,’ he told delegates. ‘So things have come a long way’.
